Geospatial Analyst Jan 2018 – Jun 2018

• Site Location Mapping.
• Geospatial Data Analysis and Report writing.
• Worked with a team on a city and development plan, personally drafted the layout for a cross section of the city using AutoCAD software.
Town Planner and Designer Nov 2017 – Dec 2017
Array of Properties Nigeria, Limited, Abuja, Nigeria.
• Designed multiple housing units with AutoCAD and Revit architecture software. Generated technical drawings using computer-aided design software (AutoCAD). Used modern 3D technology (3D max and Lumion softwares) to render building designs, thereby creating a better viewing appeal for clients which resulted in better recommendations and increased patronage.
• Report writing and presentation of building design reviews to clients. Due to my clear and concise way of presenting designs, I was made a member of the design review team, a position usually reserved for those with replete years of on the job experience.
Landscape Planner and Designer Dec 2016 – Oct 2017
Department of Parks and Recreation, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Nigeria.
• Tree inventory of the different recreational parks in the Federal Capital Territory. Adapted and implemented a mapping inventory template I previously designed to the three cadastral zones I was assigned to work on.
• Writing of Environmental Impact Assessment reports. Incorporated modern mapping tools into my reports for clarity. This resulted in many positive reviews and recommendations, one of which led to my next employment opportunity.
• Created and maintained structured layouts and sketches of building plans using AutoCAD for presentation of design tender.
Town Planner (Intern) June 2015 – Nov 2015
Department of Development Control, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Nigeria.
• Designed a mapping inventory template for the Central Business District of the Federal Capital Territory. The template has now been replicated and is currently in use in 6 other districts of the FCT.
• First opportunity to use AutoCAD software outside the classroom and in a work related setting. Modifying drawings and layouts for the development permit, south division district where I was posted to.
VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCES
Geospatial Analyst Sept 2018 – Present
University of British Columbia Farm.
• Land use/Land Cover classification of the University farm to track changes in land use and land cover across the farm and to quantify landscape structure on and around the farm. I used ESRI software ArcGIS to classify medium and high resolution imagery, and then did some ground truthing to ensure accuracy of results.
Lead Advocacy and Outreach volunteer June 2017 – Present
Save the Deaf and Endangered Language Initiative (S-DELI)
• Conceptualizing and actualizing various Advocacy & Outreach programmes for persons who are deaf or hard of hearing in Nigeria. Successfully reached out to at least one state in each of the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.
• American Sign Language training and interpreting during sensitization workshops organized for the parents of deaf students in various secondary schools in the federal capital, Nigeria. As a result, I have been able to play my part in breaking the communication barrier that usually exists between most parents and their deaf child.
Debate Trainer Jan 2015 – Nov 2017
Federal University of Technology Akure Debate Team
• Founded and served as the first president of the first British Parliamentary debate society in the history of the university. Worked with a team of other students to prepare and train students to participate at the school’s internal debate leagues, open debate tournaments as well national and international debate tournaments for the year. Achieved the feat of the best debate team in the region and the third best debate team in the entire country within the space of 18 months.
• Organised and led a team of hardworking, committed individuals to ensure the organisation of an internal league, and a successful open debate tournament that has now become an annual championship of the best orators in the country.
