In the course of applying for and after winning the prestigious MasterCard Foundation Scholarship to study MSc Geomatics for Environmental Management at the University of British Columbia, Canada, I have been privileged to come across scores of intelligent minds who are also desirous of securing such a great scholarship as a springboard for the next phase of their academic or industry career. It is common place to hear people congratulate you by saying "ha! You're lucky, you're so fortunate" and so on. However, winning a scholarship is usually far from a case of being just randomly fortunate, or merely due to some divine luck or favor. It is usually as a result of a combination of consistent set of actions aimed at achieving that purpose. While I am a staunch believer in God's ability to bless or crown one's efforts, I am also well convinced that if you do not give him something to bless, then you'll end up with nothing. I have tried my best possible to summarize some of the steps that helped me into the following points.
This list is not exhaustive, so I hope to get other scholars on board to share their winning tips and experiences that can help you land that highly coveted international degree. In the coming days, weeks, months and even years, I plan to share scholarship specific tips, especially recurring scholarships such as the Commonwealth, Chevening, DAAD, Mastercard Foundation scholarships, and a host of others. In the meantime, here is a telegram group to join if you'd like to connect with others who have similar aspirations and to learn from them. If you have questions or enquiries, feel free to use the comment box or shoot me a message via LinkedIn or Email, I am always in the mood to lend a hand.

Thanks for sharing. I am afraid my age has disqualified me from applying for scholarships. I wished I got this info when I was younger!

You're welcome Osazuwa, far from it though, there are myriads of scholarships without age limit. Except what you mean to say is that your interest has waned from scholarship pursuits or family responsibilities won't allow you to. But if that's not the case, feel free to reach out to me, I just might be able to help.
